Raising the BARR
Ayer Fire Department
“This correspondence is too provided as a letter of recommendation relative to Barr, Incorporated. It was my pleasure to have had the opportunity to work with Barr, Incorporated, with the representatives of the Town of Ayer Fire Station Building Committee, throughout the completion of the Ayer Fire Station project...Barr Incorporated provides excellent Project Management Program, with good documentation, to ensure that all components and or requirements of the contract documents are adhered to by subcontractors.”

“Oak Bluffs awarded a contract for construction of its new public library to Barr in 2003. I can honestly say that we have ‘counted our blessings’ ever since: this is a general contractor I can unequivocally endorse...I commend Barr Incorporated to anyone soliciting a general contractor and am happy to speak with you or your representatives directly to answer any detailed questions.”

“In June 2000, the Town of Killingly selected Barr, Inc., to complete the Killingly Intermediate School (KIS) Roof and Ventilation Project. The Killingly Intermediate School was constructed in 1988...Barr’s work was exceptionally strong. The Project was completed on time and within budget...I am pleased to provide, without reservation, a positive reference for Barr, Inc. Please contact me if I can provide additional information.”
Michael F. Kerns, Former Assistant Town Manager

Gillette Castle Visitor’s Center
“We are completing the Construction Administration Phase for Gillette Castle Visitor’s Center in Haddam, Connecticut. This $3.7 million dollar Connecticut State Parks project includes a new Arts and Crafts style Visitor’s Center as well as a renovation of an existing Snack Bar...This project was very intricate in design from the decorative heavy timber members to the extensive lengths and different types of stone walls. The end product is a very handsome structure on both the exterior and the interior. I give credit to Barr, Inc. for choosing excellent subcontractors for the key trades, as well as working with a difficult site due to the building sitting on a ledge.”
Ira M. Hessmer, Coordinating Architect
J. Stewart Roberts Associates Inc.
“The four projects I managed where Barr, Inc. was the General are: the Blackstone Public Library, in Blackstone, MA, the Moses Greely Parker Memorial Library in Dracut, MA, the Mason Public Library in Great Barrington, MA and still under construction are the Wenham Town Hall addition and renovation, and the New Wenham Police Station… They have been easy to work with, reasonable in negotiations, and professional… who specialize in public work, and mid-sized private work… rating average 88, with an overall rating of 92.”
